Steve has been a fan of good old Reg Dwight (Elton's real name, in case you didn't know!) for more years than he cares to remember. And, although Steve's wide taste in music includes many guitar-driven bands, he insists that the grand piano is the best instrument of all time - and who are we to argue? So, a ditty from the above album and one with plenty of piano was the order of the day, and Candle in The Wind became our somewhat ambitious choice to create an arrangement for. By the time Steve arrived at the studio we had faithfully replicated the instrumentation from the 1973 original. Steve's first time in a recording studio made a lasting impression on him from the sound of hearing his own voice in the headphones mixed in with the power of a full band, to seeing which fader to pull on a vast mixing desk. He seemed to enjoy the session, and since collecting his CD with its personalised cover photo, he has reported that many members of his family have hardly stopped playing it! Good on yer, Steve! By the way, there was mention of a beer at some stage - we're getting thirsty!
