Stacey Bovingdon - Son Of A Preacher Man

Stacey was given a Recording Experience as a 21st birthday present and, although it took almost a year before she booked herself in, the wait was more than worth it.  With her family eagerly looking on through the glass, Stacey produced an extremely professional performance and managed to bag most of her songs in 1 or 2 takes.

When she arrived, she made it clear that she would be quite happy if she only achieved 2 of her chosen tracks (Eva Cassidy's 'Somewhere Over The Rainbow' and Duffy's 'Warwick Avenue'). After the essential coffees to kick start the Saturday morning, we got chatting about Stacey's musical background and discovered that, although from a very musical family, Stacey's only real experience of singing was on the karaoke stage. But when she started her first warm up, she sounded like someone with years of experience behind her.

The quality of all her tracks was superb - with particularly Somewhere Over The Rainbow producing some emotional responses from the family (and, ok from us too!). But we have decided to treat you to her take on the Dusty Springfield classic 'Son Of A Preacher Man', because what amazed us was what a mature and soulful rendition she managed to pull out of the bag for someone with so little experience. We think she'll go far!
