Mari Barr
Middle C Productions - session October 2005
 

Mari came to Middle C to record a session as a gift in advance of her 18th birthday. Since the age of 11, she has been really into the heavy side of rock music and lists bands such as Slipknot, Papa Roach, Skillet and Linkin Park as being her favourites.  As well as making regular visits to London to as many gigs as she can cram in, she studies 'health & beauty for the media' at college and has a keen interest in photography.  In fact, she took the original self-portrait shot for this page and her CD cover.

When selecting a suitable song to record, she decided to go for a female vocal and finally decided on the Avril Lavigne track 'My Happy Ending' from the excellent second album.  At her recording session, although very nervous, she worked hard to bag several takes and was very interested in the production techniques involved at the mastering stage. For example, she now has a clear idea of what happens when we add compression, saturation, and limiting...

We wish Mari all the best for her 18th and hope that she enjoyed her time behind the microphone and at the mixing desk!
