Kevin Mackrell and his brother Jamie joined us as part of Kevin's 50th birthday celebration week-end. We had spoken to Kevin a couple of times on the phone leading up to the day and he had already expressed a wish to record an Elvis song and had told us that he had sung this particular title several times before in a live environment. Singing Elvis is something that many people feel they can do - especially when aided by a beer or too! However, we were quite unprepared for the genuine surprise of hearing just how good Kevin is. 'Always On My Mind' is probably one of the best ballads The King ever recorded and we felt that Kevin really rose to the occasion and did full justice to this classic track.
During the session we were
also treated to two more songs, including a duet with brother Jamie, but
we felt that the top of the pile was the song included here - enjoy! |
