Jodie and her friend Kyley paid us a visit at the studio to record some tracks for a special reason (which has to be kept confidential for the time being!) and the two girls decided that they would record some songs each and possibly one duet. In conversation, it was fascinating to hear that they had sung together since the age of 11 and had even taken their first foray into production and recording when they both used to huddle around a cassette recorder to capture their own voices! It has to be said that Jodie took some convincing when we remarked what a good voice she has even though she set herself a very high standard right from the start of the session. After the girls alternated in lead vocal duties, Jodie's last track was this fantastic version of the superb Bryan Adams ballad from the 90s. She turned in this performance on the first take, which left her friend and us incredibly impressed! Kyley was (we're sure she won't mind us saying) probably the more confident of the two, but had to admit to being a bit of a pro because her Dad has been an entertainer in music for many years. Kyley has joined him on stage from time to time and this experience certainly showed when she stepped up to record this version of 'Songbird', which amazed us with Kyley's maturity and expression. After some chatting about their singing in the future we convinced the girls that they should really think about going out and performing live - voices like theirs should not be kept for home listening only! We were delighted when they indicated that they may well consider some live work and will be returning to the studio in the near future for a full day session to capture some more tracks. We look forward to working with them again.
