Emma and her husband Jonathan joined us on a crisp autumn morning and we immediately started chatting about the unusual choices for songs that Emma had made. Having sung live in a previous life, she had decided that this recording session was the perfect opportunity to ease her back into her singing and start the ball rolling for a hopeful return to the live work. Emma was keen to avoid any 'obvious choices' so the first song up on the site is this '67 classic from Bobbie Gentry. Apart from the fact that we think Emma has turned in a cracking rendition of the song, we spent quite a while over coffee discussing the mystique behind the lyrics - apparently when the song was released, apart from picking up huge international sales, it generated a cult following of fans who wanted to add their own angle on some of the undercurrents within the story - just check out the amount of opinions on Wikipedia alone! But for now, just enjoy Emma's singing...
