3PuBliC got in touch with us to discuss recording an album and it was clear at the first session that these guys have something quite unique. The unusual line up of vocals, guitar and piano (no bass and no drums!) coupled with their sheer enthusiasm for free form and improvisation means that live they are dazzling. For a producer, the tricky task when recording them within the confines of a studio was to work closely with the guys, tap into that 'live' feel and really encourage the free-form style of playing within the structures of the songs. The result is that we managed to capture that clean, clear 'signature' sound and the essence of what makes them special.
